These posts always hurt my heart a little bit when I’m writing them. I hate not loving products, and for a lot of products it’s so individual to each person. When I buy a new product, I always get so excited to love it and that isn’t always the case. Here are a few products that haven’t taken my fancy lately.
1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation – Light Porcelain
This foundation just did not do it for me, at all. The coverage was meh, the time it lasted on the skin was meh and the shade was definitely meh. I found that this foundation had a severe pink undertone – my skin is already quite red-toned so I found this foundation made me look a little too much like a tomato for my liking. Maybe one to try if you have more yellow-toned skin, otherwise I would not recommend.
2. Maybelline Baby Skin Primer
This primer has been in my collection for ages. For some reason, I never, ever reach for it. After trying a fair amount of primers, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t particularly enjoy silicone based primers – I prefer something that provides a layer of moisture under my foundation. So this wasn’t necessarily a bad product, just not for me. If you do like pore-filling primers, this is definitely an affordable one to try!
3. Soap and Glory Arch De Triumph Brow Shaper & Highlighter
I usually love Soap and Glory products, however this one didn’t really work for me. I found that the brow shaper had little to no colour payoff, making it very difficult to fill in my brows. The highlighter was a little too creamy and a little too matte for my liking – I found it very difficult to blend under my browbone, leaving a big stripe of cream product sat there all day.
4. Nivea Regenerating Night Cream
This is also a product I have had in my collection for quite some time – and I am a big fan of Nivea skincare. However, I found that this product didn’t really do anything. In my opinion, a night cream should be moisturising and you should wake up feeling like your skin is super hydrated. This did not do any of the above, and just left a bit of a greasy film on my face. I have re-attempted this product many times to see whether I can make it work, and I just can’t.
5. Soap and Glory Total Drama Clean Micellar Makeup Remover
Another disappointing Soap and Glory product – this one wasn’t even meh, it was awful. For a product that claims to remove makeup this did a great job of not actually removing any of my makeup. Seriously, I tried this on so many occasions to see if it just didn’t work great with a particular type of makeup but it just did not work with any. Just smearing my eye makeup round my face was not what I wanted. No thanks, I will not buy this again.
So there you have it, a few of my products that have recently been trashed because they just weren’t doing it for me. If you have any disappointing products to share, let know, help a gal out!
As always, lots of love,
