Well, this is probably the one of the scariest posts I have ever made in my life. It’s like when you post an Instagram photo and it gets no likes. Scary stuff.
Anyway, I thought (seeing as it is the beginning of a New Year) it would be a good idea to spend my first ever blog post talking to you about resolutions that I have made for this year. Considering this year I am going to make a resolution not to quit my resolutions during the first three weeks, this blog post might be longer than a paragraph.
1. Look after myself more
I mean, I’m sure it goes without saying that more or less every single person makes this same resolution every single year. But this year, I am striving to improve my health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally. This main resolution consists of a lot of smaller resolutions: drink more water, improve my strength, fuel my body with healthier food, take lots of long bubble baths and, to balance it all out, drink lots and lots of cocktails.
2. Stress Less
The first majorly important thing that you need to understand about me is that I am 100% a stresshead. I will stress about literally everything. Whether that’s being one minute late for work or that my makeup hasn’t gone the way that I wanted it to in the morning – I stress. In 2017, I aim to stop being such a worrier about the tiny little things in life that don’t really matter that much anyway and save my stress for more important things.
3. Be more creative
When I was in school, I used to be super creative. I used to devour novels and even write stories of my own. Since becoming an “adult” and acquiring a full time job, these two things seem to have been pushed right down to the bottom of my priority list. This year, I want to read more books and maybe even write a few short stories to get me back into the swing of things and find my creative streak again.
4. Spend more time with friends and family
I feel like this can sometimes get a little sidelined. Sometimes there are so many people to see and not enough time to see them, that it gets pushed aside with an excuse that you will reschedule for the following week. With the majority of my friends and family working full time jobs, and each of us maintaining our own lives as well, there isn’t usually a lot of time left for anything else. This year I want to dedicate a little bit more of my time to spending it with the people that I love the most.
5. Finally, enjoy life more
My final resolution for 2017 is just to enjoy life more. To embrace things that I wouldn’t usually and to push myself out of my comfort zone a little more often. There are always going to be bad days, where it feels like everything is going wrong and there’s nothing that you can do about it, but for every one bad day in a week there are six good days. It’s just all about finding that silver lining. Here’s to a wonderful 2017, filled with lots more memories.
Lots of love,
